I have chosen to seek the nomination through the Green Party because I believe in and stand by core principles of the Greens. It's a party that is willing to engage with anyone who will work along-side them. This is far more attractive to me than the typical party politics that have well-meaning elected officials "toe-ing the party line" on issues they don't agree with. The Greens encourage and use diversity of thought within its membership. I like that. Diversity is key, in all arenas, and we are too often in rough shape on that file. The Greens stand firm for social justice, ecological wisdom, respect for diversity, sustainability, participatory democracy and non-violence. These are core values I share with the party and thus the Greens seemed the right choice for me.
Though I have followed politics closely, kept informed and participated on different levels, I have never officially affiliated with a political party of any kind, before now. I am a learner in this process and there are challenges to that. I also bring fresh eyes and perspective that I believe will be assets to the team, should I gain the nomination.
