What I want for our parks system

I would like to contribute my perspective and my experience in sustainable systems thinking to the Park Board, here in my home, Vancouver. I want to emphasize listening, sharing, truth, respect and love in the management process of the incredible spaces we all share. I want our playing fields safe and clean. I want Parks and their facilities accessible. I want all to feel welcome. I want future generations to look back at us and for them to feel grateful and proud of how we managed and stewarded the lands and space they will enjoy. I want our Parks to act as gathering places, multifunctional spaces that creatively and diversely contribute to the great betterment of Vancouver life. I want to ensure that what we already have is maintained, celebrated and managed properly. And I want to make sure that what we might have is imagined justly and pursued with confidence and hope. I have felt very lucky to have Vancouver Parks facilities contribute to my upbringing and my life. I still do. I want to make that possible for as many people as I can, for those who call this city home and for those who are here to visit. We have a great privilege here, regarding our Parks. It is coupled with a responsibility to care for and manage them in the right way. I want to contribute to that. I believe I have the skills, knowledge and experience to do so.
