What I want for our parks system

I would like to contribute my perspective and my experience in sustainable systems thinking to the Park Board, here in my home, Vancouver. I want to emphasize listening, sharing, truth, respect and love in the management process of this incredible space we all share. I want our playing fields safe and clean. I want Parks and their facilities accessible. I want future generations to look back at us and for them to feel grateful and proud of how we managed and stewarded the lands and space they will enjoy. I want our Parks to act as gathering places, multifunctional spaces that creatively and diversely contribute to the great betterment of Vancouver life. I want to ensure that what we have is maintained, celebrated and managed properly, that what we might have is imagined justly and pursued with confidence and hope. I have felt very lucky to have Vancouver Parks and facilities contribute to my upbringing and my life. I still do. I want to make that possible for as many people as I can, those who call this city home and those who are here to visit as well. We have a great privilege here, regarding our Parks. It is coupled with a responsibility to care for and manage them in the right way. I want to contribute to that.
